We noticed recently that all our halloween stamps that we have purchased over the years are very small. Too small. Way too small to do big fun things with. So we decided to do something about it. This craft was easy and we had all the supplies on hand already. This is a great craft for making wrapping paper, gift bags, or decorating plain paper table cloths.

Supplies

  • sharpie

  • foam paper

  • regular paper

  • tape

  • rubber cement

  • cutting tools (scissors, x-acto knife, nail scissors)

  • cutting surface

  • rolling pin

  • stamp ink

  1. I wrapped the paper around the rolling pin so I knew how much space I had to fill with stamps.

  2. I hand drew some ghosts with the sharpie on the foam paper.

3. I cut out the ghosties with scissors and an x-acto knife for the eyes. Manicure scissors would have made the eyes so much easier to cut out. But I couldn't find them anywhere!

4. I glued the foam paper onto the regular paper, making sure to arrange them into a nice pattern.

A HANDY GLUING TRICK

Rubber cement gives an amazing bond that a lot of other glues won't give you. Apply rubber cement to the piece of paper. Also apply the rubber cement to the back of the foam paper. Let the glue become almost dry. Place the foam onto the paper and press down. It will not come unglued. Like ever. It will never come unglued. I have college art projects that are 20 years old that have not come unglued. Seriously. This trick works.

5. Tape paper onto the rolling pin.

6. Roll the stamp onto the stamp pad. A large stamp pad is going to make this step go a LOT faster and easier.

7. ROLL!!!!!!! (go straight and apply even pressure)

8. Bask in your crafty awesomeness.

Next time I'm going to try it with fabric ink and make a bunch of Halloween trick or treat bags (that i'll use as grocery bags all year because I have zero shame in my love for Halloween).
